Gurunanak College of Pharmacy, Nagpur, organized a five-day certificate course on "Applications of Computational Techniques in Drug Design & Discovery” from December 21st to 25th, 2023. The seminar was attended by 39 delegates, including B. Pharm students, M. Pharm students, faculty members, PhD scholars, and the Principal from various institutes. The workshop featured Mr. Sapan K. Shah, Assistant Professor at J L Chaturvedi College of Pharmacy, Nagpur; Dr. Sumit K. Arora, Dr. Subhash Yende, and Dr. Vaishali Kilor of Gurunanak College of Pharmacy, Nagpur, as resource persons and trainers. Throughout the workshop, delegates acquired knowledge about the fundamentals of molecular docking, proteins, ligands, and relevant software applications. In silico molecular docking using Vina and Chimera Software was explored, encompassing the selection of proteins, ligands, preparation for docking, and the calculation of binding energies. Virtual screening and visualization techniques were also studied, utilizing various software, along with additional insights into ADMET properties. The resource persons also provided training on how to compile the acquired data into effective manuscripts. All delegates received hands-on training, and their understanding was assessed through an evaluation comprising 100 marks. Dr. Abhay M. Ittadwar served as the convenor and Dr. Nidhi Sapkal, Dr. Sumit Arora, and Dr. Subhash Yende acted as coordinators for the program. |

Gurunanak College of Pharmacy had conducted a Short Term Certificate Course of 2 credits in collaboration with PathtoIP, Pune on ‘Intellectual Property Rights’ in Hybrid mode from 11 to 16 September 2023. Around 50 participants registered for this course which provided them with comprehensive overview of IPR along with interesting assignments. The diverse category of participants included undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD scholars from pharmacy institutions across Nagpur. This six-day event started with Keynote Address by Dr. Sayali Kand, IP Counsel, BASF, Mumbai. Daily sessions delivered by Mrs Kawita Kanoje and Nidhi Agrawal from Pathto IP gave meaningful insights to the participants about different types of IPR, Patents, IP Infringement, Compulsory Licensing and many more. The entire course was designed and structured to match the needs of outcome based learning. Final day of the course witnessed presentation by participants as major assessment which was adjudged by Dr. Shagufta Khan, Professor, IPER, Wardha. The event was successful under able guidance of Principal Dr. Abhay Ittadwar and coordinated efforts of the organizing team.. |

A one-day workshop was organized on the topic “Personality Development & Communication Skills” for the students on 17 March 2023 in the college campus. Expert trainer from the field, Ms. Priti Dhopte engaged students with her sessions and activities. The workshop covered various areas of Personality Development & Communication Skills like attitude, soft skills, presentation skills, interview skills, e mail etiquettes, essentials of group discussion and CV preparation. This workshop introduced students with some of the essential professional etiquettes required at workplace. Interesting sessions along with participative activities were very well received by all the students. This workshop was coordinated by Co- curricular committee. Around 87 students attended this event. The event concluded with feedback from students and vote of thanks. |

A one-day seminar on Innovation, Intellectual Property and Entrepreneurship (I2E) was organized on 13 January 2023 in Sardarni Paramjeet Kaur Kalsi Auditorium. This seminar intended to make the attendees aware about the processes of generating innovative ideas, scrutinizing them for IP Protection, Forming and running a scientific enterprise, risks and reward associated with running a start-up, creating IP assets for the start-up, raising funds and market entry through commercializing the innovative ideas. Overall, innovation, intellectual property, and entrepreneurship are closely interlinked, as innovation is often the driving force behind entrepreneurship, and intellectual property plays a key role in protecting and enabling the commercialization of innovative ideas. Hence, this theme was chosen for the seminar that witnessed huge participation from the region. Around 180 delegates registered for this seminar. The esteemed speakers for the seminar were experts from the field. Both the speakers, Mr. Ashutosh Prachand, Director, Leidenfrost Innovations Pvt Ltd., registered patent agent, invention consultant and TRIZ practitioner and Dr. Milind Choudhari, Founder and CEO, WeInnovate Biosolutions Pvt. Ltd shared their knowledge and experiences with the audience. All the participants enjoyed their sessions and connected with them very well. The seminar started with inaugural ceremony where both the speakers were welcomed followed by technical sessions. The seminar ended with valedictory function and certificate distribution. Gurunanak College of Pharmacy, Nagpur organized a short-term certificate course on Intellectual Property Rights of 30 hours from 4 to 12 November 2022 in association with PathtoIP LLP, Pune. This in house event was conducted in hybrid mode. This short-term certificate course on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) was designed for introducing basics of IPR to the students and comprised of training sessions along with activity based participative learning and final assessment for grading of the participants. This well-structured course was designed by the inputs from persons working in the domain of IPR. The sessions were conducted by trained IPR professionals, Ms. Kawita Kanoje and Ms. Nidhi Agrawal, Co- founders of PathtoIP LLP, Pune, with an enriching experience of more than 10 years in the field. The contents of the course included introduction to IPR, types of IPR, patentability criteria, patentable subject matter, structure of patent, drafting of patent, IP filing procedures, IP infringement, compulsory licensing etc. Total 11 students participated in this course. This STTP was designed to train and develop professionals and trainer motivators among the teachers so that they can guide and motivate young individuals to take up entrepreneurship as a carrier. The program was organized in 3 phases as follows, Phase I from 23 rd November to 28 th November 2020; Phase II from 7 December to 12 December 2020 and Phase III from14 December to 19 December 2020. In this training program eminent personalities from industries and academia were the resource persons. Mr. Shyam Khante, Mr. H. R. Waghmare, Mr. Bhimrao Rangari, Ms. Swaima Ahmad, Mr. Ujwal Jajoo, Mr. Brij Sarda, Dr. Nilesh Ugemuge, Dr. Sumant Tekade, Mr. Swapnil Gawande, Mr. Raj Agrawal, Mr. Abhijeet Deshmukh, Mr. Sumeet Jaiswal, Mr. Dilip Lohiya addressed and motivated the budding entrepreneurs. GNCP has organized one day National Conference on “Role of Excipients in Drug Product Design” on 3rd Feb, 2018 in S. Paramjeet Kaur Kalsi Auditorium. The occasion was graced by chief guest S. Gurbux Singh Lamba, President, The Sikh Education Society and Guest of Honour S. Sarabjeet Singh Kalsi, CEO and General Secretary, The Sikh Education Society. The keynote opening was given by Dr. Shashank Lulay, Director, Experts' Club Consultants, Nagpur. In second session Dr. Mrs. Archana Moon, Associate Professor, Department of Biochemistry, Laxminarayan Institute of Technology, RTM Nagpur University delivered a lecture on 'Targeted drug delivery in multidrug resistant microbial infection'. The third session was conducted by Mr. Mangesh Itankar, Assistant Manager, Regulatory Affairs, Dr. Reddy's Research Laboratories, Hyderabad on 'Development and implementation of regulatory strategies to support filing and expedite the approvals for the new products, line extensions, major variations and life cycle management'. GNCP, Nagpur organized Two days training workshop on “Computer Aided Drug Design” for B. Pharm and M. Pharm students on 3rd and 4th March, 2018. The program was inaugurated by Dr. A. M. Ittadwar, Principal. Dr. Anwar Shaikh, Professor, Allana College of Pharmacy, Pune was the resource person. In this training workshop, basics of 2D and 3D QSAR, Pharmacophore mapping, Virtual screening, Molecular modeling and Docking were discussed. Hands on training was also given using the Schrodinger software tools for using computers in designing new drugs. The program was attended by about 50 postgraduate students and faculty members from the colleges of the region. The program was very well received and it was one of its own kind to help students in handling actual software related to drug designing. The program was conducted in collaboration with Dr. AJ Asnani and Dr. PB Khedekar of Priyadarshini JLC College of Pharmacy and UDPS, RTM Nagpur University respectively. Aim of the workshop was to impart hands on training to the Post graduate students of pharmacy regarding use of computers in drug development process. Students and faculty were introduced with the various softwares like Gastroplus, Winnonline, Simcyp and their use as an integral part of preclinical and clinical drug development process. GNCP organized one day interdisciplinary national seminar on 24th September 2016 on the “Modified drug release innovations in solubility and bioavailability enhancement: Options and opportunities” The seminar was inaugurated by Dr. Sarvesh Jain (Malvia), Managing Director, Onisomes Laboratory, Chandigarh (Punjab), Mr. Amit Antarkar, R&D (Site Head) Watson Pharma Pvt. Ltd. Mumbai and Dr. A.M. Ittadwar Principal, GNCP, Nagpur. The resource person Dr. Sarvesh Jain explained about the current market and job opportunities in pharma sector. Mr. Amit Antarkar explained the R&D work going on in pharma industries, Dr. Sunil Jaiswal, Associate Manager, Sun Pharma emphasized on innovations in solubility and bioavailability enhancements and also explained the different options and opportunities in solubility and bioavailabilty enhancement in modified drug release. Around 200 students of UG and PG from various colleges were participated. The programe was co-ordinate by Dr. V. V. Kale, Dr. S.K. Tilloo, Dr. S. R. Walde and Teaching and Non-teaching staff. A national level conference was organized at Gurunanak College of Pharmacy on the theme “Innovations in Formulations, Drugs & their Administration (iFDA-2016)” on 19 th & 20 th February, 2016. The conference was inaugurated at the hands of Sh. Anwar S. Daud, Managing Director, Zim Laboratories Ltd. Sh. Daud, in his keynote address discussed the recent innovations that pharma industry has witnessed. S. Sarabjeet Singh Kalsi, Joint secretary of The Sikh Education Society, presided over the program. On first day, Mr. G. Sundar delivered talks on regulatory aspects of Quality based design. He also presented a case study on QbD of MR tablets. Dr. Shriniwas Savale spoke about the challenges and opportunities in Bioequivalence studies. On day one, various session speakers also presented their research work to the delegates. |
